O’Brien County Traffic Stop Turns Up Stolen Handgun & Drugs

(Paullina)– A traffic stop Saturday in Paullina resulted in the arrests of two men on drug charges. The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy observed a pickup accelerate in an aggressive manner on Highway 10. The vehicle then turned south on Redwing Avenue at a high rate of speed. The deputy pulled over the vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Jon Montesdeoca of Laurel, Mississippi. Upon investigating it was discovered Montesdeoca was in possession of a loaded handgun that had been stolen from Mississippi. He was arrested for possessing the stolen gun.

Authorities then obtained and executed a search warrant on the pickup, resulting in them finding 27 marijuana roaches; ammunition; drug paraphernalia, a small quantity of marijuana, prescription medication, and a small quantity of methamphetamine.

Montesdeoca was charged with possession of a controlled substance…methamphetamine…1st offense; possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…1st offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; speeding and reckless driving.

A passenger, 26-year-old Eduardo Cordov of Laurel, Mississippi, was charged with possession of a controlled substance…methamphetamine…1st offense; possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…1st offense; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
