(Sheldon)– The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a single-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 60 near Sheldon that injured three people.
Troopers say 21-year-old Aaron Schmidt of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin was driving a 1993 Plymouth Voyager van southbound when the vehicle dropped off the shoulder of the inside lane. Authorities say Schmidt then over-corrected when he tried to get back on the road, causing the vehicle to head into the outside lane. Troopers say Schmidt again over-corrected, causing the vehicle to go sideways into the median where it rolled onto its roof.
Schmidt and two passengers, 22-year-old Sharon Schmidt and one-year-old Marley Schmidt were all taken by ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Sheldon.
Aaron Schmidt sustained incapacitating injuries while minor injuries were reported to his wife and daughter.
3,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle.
Schmidt was cited for failure to maintain control and violation of financial responsibility for an accident.
The crash took place shortly after 3:30 p.m.
