O’Brien County Economic Development Awarded Tourism Grant

January 10, 2025 Steve Schwaller

(Primghar)– The O’Brien County Economic Development Corporation has been awarded a $3,400 grant through the Iowa Tourism Office. Executive Director Kiana Johnson says the funds will go toward O’Brien County Tourism’s Agritourism Influencer promotion for 2025…

“Something the state of Iowa has been promoting is agritourism. We are doing a project where we are bringing in Jay Goodvin from The Iowa Gallivant. He has toured O’Brien county a few times over the years and he’s mostly known for his T-Bone Trail and That’s the Best Between Bread. What we’re going to do is agritourism. We want to do something that’s fun but educational as well. JJ is going to be a real hands-on blogger, so we are bringing him to the local farm and he is going to do some work on the farm, show people where their food is coming from, have fun while doing it, but then also enjoy what O’Brien county has to offer. He’s going to stay here, he’s going to also do some fun things but just kind of put an educational spin on the agritourism industry.”

Johnson says Goodvin will be in O’Brien county this coming fall. She says he will document his experiences and share them on his websites and social media pages. Johnson says OCEDC will then share those on their own website and social media platforms.
