O’Brien County Crash Injures Estherville Teen

November 22, 2014

(Hartley)– O’Brien county authorities have released details into a single-vehicle crash back on September 26th that injured a teenager.

The Sheriff’s Office says 16-year-old Bethany Schubert of Estherville was driving a 1992 Buick Regal eastbound on 360th Street near Hartley when she fell asleep at the wheel.

Authorities say Schubert was eastbound on the westbound shoulder when she woke up and over-corrected. The vehicle then cut across the roadway, went into the eastbound ditch, went up the ditch and a field driveway embankment, finally coming to rest on the passenger side.

Schubert had to be extricated by Hartley Fire and Rescue. She was then transported to Spencer Hospital.

Three thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle.

The crash took place shortly after 1:00 p.m.
