(Sheldon)– A two-vehicle collision Monday in O’Brien county sent two people to the hospital.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says 34-year-old Marbel Montiel Candia of Sheldon was driving a 2020 Nissan westbound on Highway 18 just east of Sheldon. Authorities say 57-year-old Lori Schilling of Sanborn was also westbound in a 2014 Ford and was attempting to pass the vehicle driven by Montiel Candia when the two collided. The vehicle driven by Schilling went into the west ditch, coming to rest in a yard. Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.
Damage to the vehicle driven by Montiel Candia was estimated at $6,700 with about $5,100 in damage estimated to the Ford driven by Schilling.
Schilling was cited for passing contrary to a highway sign or marking.
