O’Brien County Car Semi Collision Injures One

November 22, 2014

(Primghar)– A collision Monday in O’Brien county involving a car and a semi sent one person to the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office says Joshua Fintel of Paullina was driving a 1989 Buick eastbound on a county road about two miles west of Paullina when he began to lose control and cross the center line. Authorities say Cody Granstra of Sheldon was westbound driving a 1993 Volvo semi when he noticed Fintel cross the centerline. Granstra started to drift toward the right shoulder to avoid a collision. The vehicles collided in the westbound lane. Granstra’s vehicle came to rest in a corn field on the north side of the road; Fintel’s vehicle came to rest in the roadway facing west.

Fintel was taken by the Paullina ambulance to Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar. No injuries were reported to Granstra.

$1,500 in damage was estimated to the vehicle driven by Fintel; damage to the semi was put at roughly $1,800.
