(Sioux Falls, S.D.)– The National Weather Service Friday issued its updated spring flood outlook, and it doesn’t bode well for most area rivers.
Officials say there’s atleast a 90 percent chance for minor flooding along the Little Sioux River at Spencer, Linn Grove and Cherokee. Chances for a moderate flood range from 89 percent at Linn Grove to 69 percent at Spencer to 52 percent at Cherokee. There’s a greater than 50 percent chance for MAJOR flooding in the Linn Grove area.
Minor to moderate flooding is also highly likely along the West Fork of the Des Moines River at Jackson, Estherville, Emmetsburg and Algona.
The National Weather Service says the predictions are based on current snow cover and could be subject to change due to any additional snow or rain that falls.
