NWS Confirms Tornado Touched Down Tuesday In Buena Vista County

May 23, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Truesdale)– The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Buena Vista County late Tuesday afternoon. Meteorologist out of Sioux Falls, Kyle Weisser, says the EF-1 tornado touched down around 3:20pm Tuesday northwest of Truesdale…

Winds from the tornado were estimated at 110 miles per hour. Weisser says there haven’t been any other confirmed tornadoes in northwest Iowa from Tuesday. There were more than a half-dozen tornadoes across the state Tuesday, although the exact count is still unknown. According to Weisser, sometimes it takes a week or longer to complete surveys when there are bigger outbreaks.
