NW Iowa Man Sentenced On Federal Meth & Firearms Charges

April 18, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Sioux City)– A northwest Iowa man has been sentenced in U.S. District court to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession of firearms by a prohibited person. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 56-year-old William Hageman of rural Cherokee county was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison. Court documents say Hageman had previously been convicted on OWI-3rd offense in Plymouth county in 1994.

Evidence presented at plea and sentencing hearings show that from August 2018 through April 18th, 2019, Hageman and others conspired to distribute more than 11 pounds of methamphetamine in Cherokee county and the surrounding area. In April, 2019, law enforcement searched Hageman’s residence property. They seized almost 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine along with six guns. Authorities said a co-conspirator was attempting to flush meth down a toilet before officers could seize it. They say three of the guns were possessed by Hageman while the others were possessed by a co-conspirator.

Hageman is in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
