(Sioux City)– A northwest Iowa man has been sentenced to 27 months in jail on a federal firearms charge. 35-year-old Levi Dimmitt of Kingsley was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty in December of last year to being a prohibited person in possession of multiple firearms.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says law enforcement executed a search warrant on April 24th of last year at a residence owned by Dimmitt in Sibley. It resulted in authorities finding drug paraphernalia, marijuana, methamphetamine and guns. Upon being arrested Dimmitt ran a short distance before being apprehended.
Dimmitt is in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
The case was investigated by the Sibley Police Department, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
