(Little Rock)– A couple from Little Rock face charges following an investigation into the death of their baby last year. Sydney Schneiderman was arrested Saturday for 1st degree murder and child endangerment.
Court documents indicate Sydney Schneiderman took her baby to the hospital in Rock Rapids on September 10th of last year. The child’s vitals checked out okay and the baby was then released. The baby was returned to the Emergency Room the next day in critical condition and was flown to a Sioux Falls hospital where the child died two weeks later.
Brennan Schneiderman, the baby’s father, has also been arrested and was charged with child endangerment causing death. Law enforcement officers say his wife sent him a screen shot of an online search she did on shaken baby syndrome. Investigators allege Brennan Schneiderman failed to intervene to prevent the child’s death.
An autopsy indicates the child sustained fractured ribs and brain trauma. Physicians in Sioux Falls say the injuries are consistent with child abuse.
