(Spencer)– An agency that serves older residents in a nine county area of northwest Iowa is using this anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks to announce a new emergency meals program.
Cynthia Beauman is the Executive Director of the Northwest Aging Association based in Spencer. She tells KUOO news the association is making available pre-packaged, ready-to-eat meals that can be stored on the shelf for up to eight months.
Beauman says the meals will be available to persons 60 and over in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto and Sioux counties.
Beauman says the meals will be distrbuted from various Dinner Date sites in the region beginning the week of September 21st.
She adds the program has been coordinated with area emergency management coordinators.
