(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Communications Center received numerous reports this (Wednesday) morning of a bull moose seen wandering around in the city of Spirit Lake. Several sightings were reported just west of Memorial Park. It was reported being seen a short time later in the Francis Sites area.
Authorities remind everyone that if you see a moose, you should stay away from it as they can become aggressive if they’re agitated or frightened.
It isn’t certain if this is the same moose spotted a couple of weeks ago on the west side of Big Spirit Lake.
***UPDATE*** The moose could be seen late this (Wed.) afternoon on the ice on East Lake Okoboji, just off Francis Sites. Observers were concerned over the animal’s well being as it appeared the ice surrounding it was starting to melt.
