(Undated)– Officials say the region will be under a very high fire danger today (Sat.). A red flag warning goes into effect at Noon and continues until 8:00 pm this evening for a large part of northwest Iowa. It includes Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas and Sioux counties. The National Weather Service says a combination of dry vegetation, gusty wind, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will result in the elevated fire danger.
Officials are hopeful that rain which is in the forecast for Sunday will help take some of the edge off the danger. However more warm, dry, breezy weather is in the forecast for the region beginning again Monday and continuing through the rest of the upcoming week.
