(Quimby)– A collision Wednesday evening in Cherokee county claimed the life of one person and injured another.
The Iowa State Patrol says 69-year-old Marilyn Ebert of Washta was driving a 2010 Chevrolet eastbound on a county road. Troopers say 40-year-old Shane Beeson of Pierson was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra which was facing westbound in the eastbound lane of the road as he was preparing to back into a driveway with a flatbed trailer. Troopers say Ebert’s vehicle swerved off the road and collided with the left front of the one driven by Beeson. Ebert’s vehicle then went into the south ditch and rolled. Ebert was transported by air to MercyOne Siouxland. A passenger in her vehicle, 48-year-old Jerad Ebert of Washta, was taken to the Cherokee hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The crash took place a little after 8:30 pm.
