(Okoboji)-Two Northwest Iowa Businesses have teamed up to help victims of the flood in Spencer. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Okoboji Realty and Northwest Iowa Counseling have partnered to support those in need following the devastating flood in Spencer.
Realtor Ryan Maris explains The Adopt a Family for Spencer campaign. “We were just heartbroken hearing the stories of families down in Spencer where they go from a normal life to having everything taken away, and we have quite a few connections with the real estate business up here, so we partnered with Northwest Iowa Counseling in Spencer to help connect families that are in need with people who have the means to donate up here. So, we’re really just using our network around the lakes to help connect people that have the means to donate to the people that need it down in Spencer.”
He says that donors can adopt a family or donate a gift card. “We have about 30 families. If you go to the website, it’ll tell you details about each family, which items they’re asking for and has it all laid out. Once you look at what family you’d like to adopt, you can collect those items, let us know which family you’re sponsoring, bring it to our office and we’ll make sure that it gets in their hands.”
