Northwest Bank To Close Downtown Spirit Lake Location

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)—Northwest Bank has announced plans to close it’s location in downtown Spirit Lake effective at the end of June. Joe Conover, Lakes Market President for Northwest Bank, says the decision to consolidate the operations with Northwest  Bank’s other locations in the Iowa Great Lakes followed a lot of careful deliberations…(click here for comment.) “We’ve taken the time to see where our customers prefer to use our banking services and been very thoughtful about this. And after this time it’s come to the conclusion that it’s best to serve our customers and best for our employees if we have four locations in Dickinson county as opposed to five. So we plan on having that location open until the last day of business would be on June 28th.”

Conover says the employees at the downtown Spirit Lake location will be transferred to the bank’s other locations…(click here for comment.) “All of our employees will be able to, all customers will be able to see those happy faces at different locations with Northwest Bank. We’re happy about having all the same faces continuing with Northwest Bank at different locations, so that was something that was very important to us to be able to do during this transition.”

Conover says they’re hoping the building, a major fixture in downtown Spirit Lake, won’t be sitting vacant very long…(click here for comment.) “We’ve got several options in front of us right now, but that’s something that is very important to us, is making sure that building doesn’t go dark for very long, that it’s utilized and continues to be an important part of the downtown environment.”

Northwest Bank has two other locations in Spirit Lake, at 1109 18th Street and as well as on Highway 71 south, along with locations in Arnolds Park and Milford. Northwest Bank closed it’s location in Okoboji in August of last year.
