(Arnolds Park)– There’s an update to report as work on this phase of the Highway 71 project through the lakes corridor is winding down.
According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, the northbound lanes of the highway from Broadway Street to Ackley Street will re-open to traffic early Friday (May 17th) afternoon. The northbound traffic at that point will be placed on the new pavement and the detour will be lifted.
On somewhat of a related note, Arnolds Park city officials tell KUOO news the intersection of Iowa Street and East Broadway Street will be closed Monday, May 20th through Thursday, May 23rd to repair the pavement in that area. They say it will be reopened by Friday, May 24th.
Work on this phase of the Highway 71 project concludes for the season Friday, May 24th. The fourth phase gets underway immediately following Labor Day and will continue for as long as the weather permits this fall.
