(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision Friday evening at the north junction of Highways 18 and 71, or the North “Y” in Spencer.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 60-year-old Brian Banks of Spencer was southbound on Highway 71 and was attempting to turn east onto the Highway 18 beltway when he collided with a northbound vehicle driven by 79-year-old Laura Kirk of Estherville.

Minor injuries were reported to Banks and to a passenger in Kirk’s vehicle.

$10,000 in damage was estimated to a 1990 Cadillac driven by Banks; damage to a 2006 Chrysler driven by Kirk was estimated at $4,000.

Banks was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

The collision took place shortly before 6:30 p.m.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department and Spencer paramedics.
