(Bismarck, N.D.)– The North Dakota Public Service Commission has denied a siting permit for the Midwest Carbon Express CO2 Pipeline project in that state. It’s part of the same pipeline that would make its way through a number of counties in northwest Iowa, including Dickinson.
In its ruling, the North Dakota agency sited concern from landowners about potential impacts on property values and residential development projects. The commission says Summit Carbon Solutions, the company behind the proposed project, filed a letter from an appraisal company in response. The agency says the information was not available during public hearings and that the public and commission members didn’t have have an opportunity to ask questions or question a witness from Summit.
Officials with Summit Carbon Solutions say they plan to address the concerns and will re-apply for a permit.
