(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for Winter Games Cheerleaders. Morgan Strauss of the chamber says nominees must be 21 of age or older and a resident of Dickinson county…
“These nominations stay open for the whole month of December, so if you need time to think on it, please do. But this is someone that you always see out in the community. This is someone volunteering for us here at the chamber, our schools, doing meals on wheels. Anything voluntary in our area, those are the people that we want to see are Winter Games cheerleaders. They have a ready smile, they’re always dedicated to our community and making it the best place possible to live. And then, of course, they have to have enthusiasm for everything U of O. So if you see them at every event you’re at, those are the type of people we’re really looking for.”
There are two ways to submit nominations…
“So if you head to uofowintergames.com, there is an information path and you just scroll on down to cheerleaders and there’s a click here to nominate button and that’s where you’re going to enter in all that information. Or you can stop into our chamber office here. We have select hours this week but just give us a call if you want to stop in and do an in-person nomination.”
The deadline to submit nominations is 5:00 pm December 31st.
In person voting will take place January 5th and 6th, 2026 from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm at the Chamber office in Arnolds Park, or online. The top eight will go on to become cheerleaders. Last year there were 9 due to a tie. The cheerleaders will be announced January 7th, 2026.
The 46th Annual University of Okoboji Winter Games presented by WestO Beer will be held January 22nd-25th, 2026.
