(Spirit Lake)– The Farm Service Agency is reminding area producers the nomination period for FSA County Committee opens June 15th.
Nominees must fill out a special form available from their local FSA office. The forms must be postmarked or received by the local office by the close of business on August 1st. Ballots will be mailed to eligible voters by November 4th. The final day to return ballots to your local FSA Service Center is December 5th. Newly elected county committee members will take office January 1st, 2012.
To hold office as a county committee member, a person must participate or cooperate in a program administered by the Farm Service Agency, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and reside in the local administrative area in which the person is a candidate…among other requirements.
The seat that’s up for election this year in Dickinson county is that representing local administrative area one, consisting of Westport, Okoboji, Milford and Lloyd Townships. Linda Hemphill, Chairperson of the Dickinson County FSA Committee, currently represents that area and is seeking another term.
