No Injuries Reported In Rural Clay County House Fire

March 11, 2026

(Dickens)– Fire this (Wednesday) morning damaged a house in rural Clay county.

The Dickens Fire Department was called around 6:45 am to 2932 270th Avenue about two miles east of Langdon. Chief Kevin Whalen says flames were coming from under a three-season porch when they arrived. Mutual aid was then requested from the Spencer and Fostoria Fire Departments for assistance with manpower and water. Whalen says they were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread to other areas of the house, which sustained smoke and water damage.

Whalen says two people who were in the house when the fire broke out were able to get out uninjured.

Firefighters were on the scene about three hours. There’s been no word on a possible cause.
