(Emmetsburg)– A Minnesota man escaped injury Monday after losing control of a semi tractor-trailer that left the road and rolled in Palo Alto county.
The Sheriff’s Office says Jeffrey Lux of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota was driving a 2002 Peterbuilt semi tractor and trailer on a county road when he lost control while traveling through some mud. Deputies say the rig started to slide to the east side of the road and the rear trailer tires went into the east ditch, causing the trailer to roll. They say the action caused the semi tractor to roll as well. Both the trailer and tractor came to rest on the driver’s side, the tractor coming to rest on the road, with the trailer in the ditch.
Heavy damage was reported to the rear of the trailer with damage to the tractor reported to the driver’s side under the door and near the fuel tanks. Total damage was estimated at nearly $35,000.
Authorities say the trailer was loaded with hog feed, a small amount of which spilled. It took crews about 8 hours to remove the wreckage and clean the mess up.
