No Injuries Reported In Dumpster Fire

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– No injuries were reported in a dumpster fire this (Friday) afternoon in Spirit Lake.

Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news firefighters were called to 1101 23rd Street in Spirit Lake. Upon arriving he says they found a roll-off dumpster full of construction debris on fire…(click here for comment.) “The call came in a little after 3:30 as a report of a dumpster fire. We rolled up on the scene and the flames were shooting pretty good out of the dumpster. There was a report of a car beside it but they evidently got it moved by the time we got there. We quickly extinguished and foamed it down and everything was safe.”

Kollasch says there’s no word on a probable cause…(click here for comment.) “The contractor was in the house working and he said somebody came in and said hey your dumpster is on fire. He called 911 and at that time we got paged out.”

Kollasch says the fire was contained to the dumpster.

Firefighters were assisted by officers of the Spirit Lake Police Department who shut down traffic on some nearby streets as a precaution.
