Next Phase Of Work On Hwy 71 Through Lakes Corridor To Begin Sept. 5th; Informational Meeting Set For Tues. (Aug. 15th)

(Arnolds Park)– A public informational meeting in advance of the next stage of work on Highway 71 through the lakes corridor will be held at 5:00 pm tomorrow (Tues.) at The Pavilion in Arnolds Park.

The second phase of the project will start September 5th and will include reconstruction of more intersections. In Okoboji the work is scheduled to include an area north of Lake Shore Drive and Gordon Drive to Sanborn Avenue; the east half of the Sanborn Avenue intersection and an area from north of Sanborn Avenue to Stakeout Road where some temporary pavement will be put in. Work in Arnolds Park is scheduled for the northbound lane from Benit Drive through Broadway Street; at the Bascom Street intersection and from Ackley Street through Lake Shore Drive, or the causeway. The causeway will be closed as a result of that work beginning September 18th, with the closure expected to last four weeks.

D.O.T officials say the intersections will be constructed half at a time, to avoid closing the entire intersection.
