(Sioux City)– A Spencer man has pled guilty guilty in federal court to a charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Dylan Halbur entered the plea today (Friday). Sentencing will be scheduled later.
Evidence presented at a plea hearing showed that on August 26th, 2024, law enforcement searched a camper in Spencer where Halbur was known to reside and store items. Inside, officers found 45 grams of pure methamphetamine, $2,900 in cash, marijuana, a digital scale and other items. Prosecutors say Halbur admitted the meth was his and that he was planning to distribute the drug.
Halbur faces a fine of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of a million dollars and at least three years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
He remains in the custody of a federal marshal pending sentencing.
The case was investigated by the Spencer Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa DCI Laboratory.
