(Des Moines)– 12 Iowa counties have been authorized for emergency haying or grazing use of Conservation Reserve Acres for the current fiscal year. The primary counties in our area that have been approved are Buena Vista, Clay, Ida, Palo Alto, Pocahontas and Sac.
Six other counties have also received authorization but with some restrictions. Those are Cherokee, Monona, O’Brien, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury counties.
A CRP participant must receive approval for emergency haying from their county FSA Office before any action is taken.
The designations were made due to ongoing drought conditions in the affected counties.
