Iowa Great Lakes Chamber Launches Leap of Kindness Day Drive for Students

February 20, 2024 Becky Thoreson

(Arnolds Park)-The Okoboji Chamber is seeking donations for Leap of Kindness Day. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber has launched a drive for Leap of Kindness Day.
Events and Marketing Coordinator Morgan Strauss says the goal is to help area students in need. “You know, to fill some of those needs at local schools here in the area. So, we are actually helping out Spirit Lake High School, Elementary and Middle School, Harris-Lake Park, Okoboji Middle School, Elementary and High School and then, Terril Elementary School, as well, and just helping out the kiddos in the area that are in need. If you are wanting to do any donations, our office is open for drop-off as well as pick-up. I’m more than happy to set up a time to pick up items at your local business. We’re just really challenging local businesses and organizations in the area for this fun event.”
She adds that a wide variety of items are needed. “We’re looking for everything from small portion gift cards, like $25 gift cards to Hy-Vee, Walmart, Casey’s, Fareway, things like that. Clothes, hygiene products, laundry detergent. There’s a whole list that is linked on our website and facebook page that will show you what goes to each school and what need is the highest need.”
The deadline to donate items is February 28.
