(Estherville)-- Multiple charges were filed against an Estherville man in connection with a domestic disturbance early Sunday.

Police say officers were called to lot 80 at 2302 3rd Avenue South around 12:05 am. Officers met with a female reporting party. They could hear glass breaking at a nearby residence. Police then made contact with 29-year-old Jessie Martin of Estherville. Officers say Martin allegedly broke a window out of the adjacent residence and that he appeared to be intoxicated. He was then taken into custody.

Upon speaking with the female reporting party, officers learned that Martin had allegedly stolen her car and lost control of it while driving in the 900 block of South 28th Street. That's where police found the vehicle in a ditch. Officers determined Martin allegedly stole a boom truck from Christensen Construction and that he tried to use it to pull the vehicle from the ditch, getting the boom truck stuck in the process.

Martin was taken to the Emmet county jail and was booked on charges of theft in the 1st degree, domestic abuse assault with strangulation causing bodily injury, operation without owner's consent, OWI 2nd offense, and criminal mischief.

Martin made an initial appearance in Magistrate Court where his bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
