Dickinson County Supervisors Hear Update From Summit Carbon Solutions Pipeline Rep.

June 14, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson County Supervisors today (Tuesday) heard an update from an official with the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline. A person in charge of “stakeholder relations” for the company told supervisors “16 percent of the mileage” needed for the project in Dickinson county has been acquired. When queried by supervisor Kim Wermersen, the spokeswoman declined to say how many landowners in the county have granted easements…

“I’m not exactly sure on the number of landowners. I know we have over 500 landowners signed up in Iowa. I’m not sure on Dickinson county. So if you’re planning on starting construction next August, a year from now, and that percentage doesn’t change, what message do I hear? Well I would hope that it would change. I’m sure it will change because our land agents are working every single day. That’s part of the reason I’m here, is to clear up the messaging on how much power the landowner does have with negotiations.”

She added the current plans still call for construction on the pipeline to start in the late summer of 2023.
