(Spirit Lake)– An inmate at the Dickinson County Jail attempted an escape late this (Friday) morning. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the inmate, Caleb Crosby, was being moved from the general population to another area of the jail for a medical consultation when he breached a door that should have been latched but was not. The incident happened at 11:51 am. Crosby was taken back into custody a minute later, at 11:52 am.
Crosby, who was already in jail on attempted murder and theft charges, now faces an additional charge of escape from custody…a class “D” felony.
The Spirit Lake Police Department assisted in capturing Crosby during today’s (Fri.) incident.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the incident remains under review.
