Burn Bans Now In Effect For All But Three NW Iowa Counties

October 08, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Undated)– Burn bans are now in effect for all but a few counties in northwest Iowa. A burn ban for Palo Alto county went into effect at 1:00 pm this (Tues.) afternoon. A ban for Clay county goes into effect at midnight tonight (Tues.).

Buena Vista, Dickinson, Kossuth, and Pocahontas are the only counties in the region that have yet to put a ban into place.

Officials say a lack of rainfall combined with warm temperatures and extremely dry vegetation continue to create a very high fire danger. No rain is in the forecast for the foreseeable future. However, much cooler temperatures will move into the region next week with highs only in the 50’s.
