(Estherville)– Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College wrapped up one year and began another at their regular monthly meeting Tuesday.
The old board was adjourned after reviewing results from September’s election. The new board then convened ad the oath of office was administered to newly-elected members Bob Jennings of Algona and Mike Prior of Spirit Lake along with incumbent Pat Kibbie of Emmetsburg.
That was followed by an election of officers, with board member Jan Lund being elected board President and Jim Miller Vice President. Clark Marshall was appointed Secretary and Bob L’Heureux Treasurer. Scott Bauermeister was selected as the attorney for the trustees.
In other business, trustees approved the final reading of two policies–one which updates language to reflect the new state election schedule and another which reinforces the board’s Americans with Disabilities Act procedures for trustee meetings.
Delaine Hiney, Executive Director of Facilities Management, was directed by the board to pursue possible additional housing for the Estherville campus and was asked to revise specifications for the Construction Tech building planned for the Emmetsburg campus.
Trustees approved a recommendation switching life and disability insurance providers–a move they say will save the college about 14-thousand dollars a year.
A decision on selling the college’s Renewable Energy Credits was tabled.
Trustees also heard from the Board Awards Committee which is recommending the building at the Spirit Lake campus be named in honor of Jack Tatman for his 42 years of service to the college’s board of trustees.
