New Man In Charge Of Clay County Fair Says Things Are Ready To Go

September 08, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– This will mark the first Clay County Fair for CEO and General Manager Jerome Hertel. He says the final preparations have been made and things are ready to go for when the gates open at 7:00 am Saturday (Sept. 9th)…

“I feel good about preparations for the fair. You know, I have a very knowledgeable staff. I was very blessed to have the staff that I do to be able to walk into this fair and have such a talented, experienced staff that know what they’re doing. I just have to support them in any way I can, but they’re the real ones that put on this fair and schedule a lot of the things and the programs and all the logistics and all the behind scenes and things you don’t see. So I have a great staff.”

On another note, there will be an additional location this year on the grounds to purchase Clay County Fair merchandise. Hertel says there are now two locations on the grounds where you can do that…

“We have the original merch stand that is out in front of the Varied Industries Building, and then we have a new location in the Events Center right along side a new information booth. So you can get your fair merch in the Events Center where it’s air conditioned. An opportunity to get out of the heat if it’s hot and buy some really cool fair merchandise.”

The Clay County Fair will run through Sunday, September 17th.
