(Milford)– Boulders Inn and Suites has broken ground on a new 40-unit hotel being built just north of the billboards on Highway 71 on the north edge of Milford.
The city council Monday approved a dollar amount for a tax increment finance district for the project which is not to exceed an amount of slightly more than $431,000. That’s lower than the $528,625 the developer had originally requested. City Administrator Matt Skaret told the council the original figure included funding for things that had not been funded previously in other TIF agreements in the city…Click here to hear mp3 file
The council voted unanimously to approve a Finance Committee recommendation to accept the smaller amount. A public hearing on the TIF proposal is set for 6:30 p.m. October 10th.

In other business, the council set October 24th at 6:30 p.m. as the date and time for a public hearing on a rezoning request from Okoboji Village, which is right next door to the new motel being built. The trailer park is requesting some land it recently purchased be rezoned to accomodate a planned expansion. The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission has already recommended the change.
