(Milford)– Boulders Inn and Suites has broken ground on a new 40-unit hotel being built just north of the billboards on Highway 71 on the north edge of Milford.
The city council Monday approved a dollar amount for a tax increment finance district for the project which is not to exceed an amount of slightly more than $431,000. That’s lower than the $528,625 the developer had originally requested. The council voted unanimously to approve a Finance Committee recommendation to accept the smaller amount. A public hearing on the TIF proposal is set for 6:30 p.m. October 10th.

In other business, the council set October 24th at 6:30 p.m. as the date and time for a public hearing on a rezoning request from Okoboji Village, which is right next door to the new motel being built. The trailer park is requesting some land it recently purchased be rezoned to accomodate a planned expansion. The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission has already recommended the change.
