(Milford)– Flood warnings on the Little Sioux River will remain in effect for the foreseeable future. A warning had already been in place for a stretch of the river west of Milford the past couple of days. An additional flood warning was issued Wednesday that also includes the Little Sioux at Spencer.
The National Weather Service says the river west of Milford stood at 12.5 feet as of 7:00 pm Wednesday. Flood stage there is 12 feet. It’s expected to rise to at least 13 feet by early Friday. In Spencer, the Little Sioux was at 10.4 feet as of 7:15 pm Wednesday. Flood stage in Spencer is 10 feet. It’s expected to rise to 10.8 feet by Friday morning.
Forecasters say predictions for more rain in coming days will likely have further impacts on river stages.
As of now, the flood warning for the Little Sioux River west of Milford is in effect until early Sunday; for Spencer the warning continues until this coming Tuesday morning.
