(Undated)– Here’s a rundown of unofficial results from Tuesday’s municipal elections from contested races in Dickinson county.
In Lake Park, Incumbent John Engel was re-elected Mayor over challenger Ken Fiala. Dick Packebush, Lance Heikens and Clark Reekers were elected to three seats on the city council.
In Milford, Don Lamb was unopposed for Mayor. Incumbent Virg Wahlman didn’t seek re-election. Instead, he ran for a seat on the city council, but lost in that effort. Elected to the three open seats on the council were Incumbents Mike Anderson and Keith Feller along with Christopher Hinshaw.
In Okoboji, Incumbents Jerry Robinson and Sue Larson were re-elected to the city council along with Neal Christensen. Jim Hentges was unopposed to fill a vacancy.
In Terril, incumbent Tim Fairchild was re-elected Mayor and Elwin Clark and Jerry Nissen were elected to the city council.
And in Wahpeton, Wayne Johnson, Tim Keck and Thomas Rierson were elected to the city council.
In some other featured races in the area, incumbent Lyle Hevern was re-elected Mayor in Estherville, surviving a challenge from John Hanson. Larry Anderson was re-elected to his at-large position on the city council, defeating challenger Amber Houge.
Six people were running for five seats on the Wallingford city council. The winners were Jeremy Bodle, Betsy Dostal, Jarrod Fischer, Linda Mickelson and Terry Osher.
Three people were running for two seats on the Ringsted city council. The winners were Darry Anderson and Kennith Lowery.
In Clay county, in Spencer, David Scott was re-elected to an at-large seat on the city council with 452 votes; Randy Plagman received 311. Bud Meyer was elected Mayor in Everly, defeating Keith Fliss 64 to 55 votes. Aaron Rutter, Dwight Depew and Jim Shatto were elected to three seats on the Fostoria city council. In Gillett Grove, Gary Findling was elected Mayor and Lorraine Vanderpool, Lewis Clark, Dorothy Burger and Lanny Bevers were elected to the city council. Casey Lawson was elected Mayor in Greenville; elected to the city council were Danny Knutson, Colton Meyer, and Amy Orwig. Scott Brown was elected Mayor in Peterson; in Rossie, David Yungbluth was elected Mayor and Beth Starkson, Steve Kracht and Stacy Baas were elected to the city council. In Royal, Bill Burgeson and Johnie King won a four-way race for two seats on the city council. And in Webb, Mindy Sylvester was elected Mayor, defeating Ken Essick.
In contested races from O’Brien county, Alan Mills was elected Mayor in Sutherland and George Johnson was elected to an at-large seat on the city council. Katricia Rider was elected Mayor in Sheldon; Ron Schott and Michael Benner were elected to two at-large seats on the Sanborn city council; Glenn Schueller, Clara Black and Brad Stevens were elected to three seats on the Primghar city council; Steve Loshman won a three-way race for Mayor in Calumet; and Karen Storm won in a two-way race for Mayor in Archer.
In Palo Alto county, Jeff Moore and Pauline Miller won a four-way race for two seats on the Ayrshire city council; Jennifer Buettner won a three-way race to fill a vacancy on the council. In Emmetsburg, Steve Finer and Brian Malm were elected to two seats on the city council.
