Multiple Vehicle Crash Injures Four

November 22, 2014

(Armstrong)– A three-vehicle crash Wednesday in Emmet County injured four people.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says it happened shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Highway 9 five miles west of Armstrong.

Deputies say Brian Montefusco of Thompson, Iowa was driving a 2005 Saturn westbound when he lost control and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a 1998 Dodge pickup driven by 48-year-old Kevin West of Estherville.

Authorities say a third vehicle, a 1988 Ford Tempo driven by 20-year-old Alyssa Eisenbacher of Spencer, then collided with the vehicle Montefusco had been driving.

All three drivers were taken by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. A passenger in Montefusco’s vehicle, 42-year-old Doug Price of Lakota, Iowa, was taken by ambulance to the Fairmont, Minnesota hospital. There was no word on the extent of injuries or conditions.

Damage estimates to the vehicles also weren’t available.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by fire equipment and ambulances from Armstrong and Ringsted and the Estherville Ambulance Service, along with Armstrong Fire and Rescue, which used Jaws of Life equipment to free the occupants of the Montefusco vehicle.

Emmet County Emergency Management also assisted on the scene.
