(Storm Lake)– A weekend fire heavily damaged a scrap yard near Storm Lake. Firefighters from seven departments battled the blaze early Sunday at Buzz’s Salvage. One firefighter sustained a deep laceration. Firefighters had to deal with multiple explosions from flammable cylinders. Flames could be seen from several miles away. Authorities say one building and its contents were completely destroyed. A second building was damaged.
Officials say the fire was caused by a burn pile on the property that had not been completely extinguished. It remains under investigation.
