Multiple Departments/Agencies Respond To Estherville House Fire

June 23, 2025

(Estherville)– Extensive damage was reported in a house fire late Saturday/early Sunday in Estherville.

The Estherville Fire Department was called at 11:57 pm Saturday to a fully engulfed structure on North 11th Street. Firefighters found flames coming through the roof of the two-story residence upon arriving. They quickly called for assistance from the Wallingford, Gruver and Spirit Lake Fire Departments. The residents managed to get out unharmed.

Officials say strong southwest wind caused the fire to spread to the garage of a neighboring property to the north. Firefighters were able to keep the damage to that structure to a minimum. The primary residence, however, sustained major damage. The Estherville Fire Department was on the scene about five hours.

The Estherville Fire Department was called back to the scene around 6:16 am this (Sunday) morning after the fire re-kindled.

A press release says the cause of the fire is under investigation and that no injuries were reported.

The Estherville Police Department, Wallingford Ambulance, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, Estherville Ambulance, the Estherville Electric Department and the Estherville Water Department assisted on the scene.
