(Dickens)– An accident this past weekend near Dickens involving a farm implement claimed a life.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called just before 2:00 p.m. Saturday to 2540 380th Street near Dickens. Authorities say Mark Smith was operating a mower in a ditch when it rolled, trapping him underneath.
Smith was extricated from the mower and was transported to Spencer Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Dickens Fire and Rescue, Spencer Fire and Rescue, the Spencer Police Department and Spencer ambulance and paramedics.
