Motorcycle Crash Near Swan Lake Injures Two Minnesota Men, One Seriously

November 22, 2014

(Superior)—Two men from St. James, Minnesota were injured Sunday in a collision involving two motorcycles on a county road near Swan Lake, north of Superior.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 47-year-old Karl Palmquist was driving a 1991 Harley Davidson and 47-year-old Earl Palmquist was driving a 2010 Yamaha side-by-side when they lost control trying to negotiate a series of curves. Both motorcycles, which were northbound at the time, went off the roadway and collided with the ditch on the west side of the road.

Karl Palmquist was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake with incapacitating injuries. He was later transferred by air to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. His condition information wasn’t immediately available. Earl Palmquist sustained possible injuries but refused transport.

The crash took place shortly before 4:00 p.m.

Authorities say it remains under investigation.
