More Dickinson County Farms Receive

(Des Moines)– Some more Dickinson county farms have received a “Century Farm” designation from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the Iowa Farm Bureau.

The farms were recognized during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair.

Joyce Overocker and Corinne Peterson and Michael and Charles Gillette each received a “Century Farm” certificate and yard sign.

Statewide, 297 farms were recognized this year.

More than 16,500 farms from across the state have received the recognition since the program was started in 1976.

To qualify, a family must have owned atleast 40 acres for 100 years or more.
