Minor Injuries Reported In Collision Involving SUV And Semi

(Spencer)—Minor injuries were reported in a collision involving a semi and an SUV earlier today (Mon.). It happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. in the 1900 mile of Highway 18 in Clay county.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says Dennis Miles of Spencer was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound when he crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound 2014 Freightliner semi driven by 56-year-old Dennis Devore of Central City. The vehicle driven by Miles then went into the north ditch.

Miles sustained minor injuries and was taken to Spencer Hospital. No injuries were reported to Devore.

$7,000 in damage was estimated to the Suburban driven by Miles; damage to the semi driven by Devore was estimated at $10,000.

Miles was charged with failure to yield half the roadway when meeting another vehicle.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Fire Department and Spencer Hospital.
