(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported in a collision earlier this week involving a car and a semi near Spencer. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 10:14 am Wednesday in the 2,000 mile of 360th Street.
Authorities say 71-year-old Beverly Wantland of Royal was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue and was attempting to pass a 2008 Freightliner driven by 50-year-old Chad Lyman of Peterson. Deputies say Wantland failed to see the left-turn signal from the slowing semi which resulted in the semi striking the rear of Wantland’s vehicle.
Both drivers were uninjured. A passenger in the vehicle driven by Wantland sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by personal vehicle.
Wantland was cited for unsafe passing.
Damage to the vehicle Wantland was driving was estimated at $8,000; damage to the Freightliner was put at $1,000.
