Minor Injuries Reported In Car Vs Manure Spreader Collision

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported when a vehicle collided with a manure spreader being pulled by a tractor Tuesday in Clay county.

The Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Jodi Groote of Rolfe and a tractor pulling a manure spreader driven by 51-year-old James Kehoe of rural Spencer were both northbound when Groote failed to slow down in time and collided with the rear of the manure spreader.

Groote complained of pain but wasn’t taken to a hospital. No injuries were reported to Kehoe. Groote was charged with driving under suspension and was booked into the Clay county jail. Authorities say additional charges against Groote are pending the outcome of DCI lab test results.

$1,500 in damage was estimated to a Ford Escort driven by Groote and to the manure spreader.

The collision took place around 2:00 p.m.
