(Undated) — Federal heating aid delays are leaving Minnesota propane users in a tricky position.
As the federal shutdown nears its fourth week, heating assistance payments won’t go out without funding from the federal government. The state does have a cold weather rule which limits utilities from shutting off people’s heat, but that rule doesn’t apply to propane or oil users. This means, propane or oil users wont receive funding assistance nor protection from the cold weather rule.
A state official said, this means some Minnesota residents will have to pay up to 800-dollars to refill their tank to keep the heat on.
