Minnesota Man Sentenced On Firearms Charges

(Sioux City)– A Minnesota man who federal prosecutors say acquired some firearms while committing burglaries in Clay and Dickinson counties has been sentenced to more than six years in prison.

39-year-old Freddie Lee, Junior of Hutchinson, Minnesota received the prison term in U.S. District Court Monday after pleading guilty back in October of last year to one count of being a felon in possession of firearms.

Lee had been previously convicted in January, 2008 in Hennepin county, Minnesota of murder in the second degree.

According to information presented at Monday’s sentencing on the firearms charges, Lee illegally possessed 12 firearms. Prosecutors say he obtained some of those while committing nine burglaries in Clay and Dickinson counties.

Lee was sentenced to 80 months in a federal prison. He must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation; the Clay and Dickinson Counties Sheriff’s Offices; and the Spencer Police Department.
