(Spirit Lake)—A Milford teen has been crowned this year’s Dickinson County Fair Queen. 17-year-old Abby Taylor, daughter of Mary Weaver and Chris Taylor, was crowned during competition Tuesday evening at the Expo Center in Spirit Lake.
Other contestants included Bodi Rouse, daughter of Scott and Kathy Rouse of Terril; Katie Goodell, daughter of Brian and Mary Goodell of Lake Park; Brittany Hibma, daughter of Dave and Sandy Hibma of Lake Park; and Elizabeth Naviaux, daughter of Dawn McCarthy of Spirit Lake. Hibma was named 1st runner up.
As Fair Queen, Taylor will represent Dickinson county as she competes in the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest in August. She’ll also attend parades and functions next year on behalf of the Dickinson County Fair.
In addition, Taylor will receive a $500 college scholarship from the Dickinson County Fair Board and a $200 cash prize from Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative. In addition, Okoboji GM Toyota will provide Taylor with a convertible to be used in parade events throughout her reign.
Judges of this year Fair Queen contest included Cassie Galm of Spencer; KUOO’s Jeff Nixx and Brad Simington, Vice President of Farmer’s Savings Bank.
